Ou Chanrith was Pardoned by the King After Asking to Join CPP

Phnom Penh: An opposition leader, Mr. Ou Chanrith, was pardoned by the King after he asked to join with Cambodian People's Party.

Ou Chanrith was pardoned by the King on June 1, 2023, along with another opposition activist, Tum Bunthon.

Ou Chanrith was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to 20 years in prison, while Tum Bunthorn was sentenced to six years in prison.

On May 31, a senior opposition leader, Ou Chanrith, submitted a letter to the president of the Cambodian People's Party requesting him to join the political party after he announced a cutting tie with Sam Rainsy.
